I totally agree about more happy than not..I don’t think it was necessary homophobia by any means...but the messages about queerness that book sent were really...gross. The fact that his mom was ready to let him to get the procedure again let alone the first time as well...like...bro. The ending just felt like tragedy for the sake of tragedy. On a...more positive! note! tho! Great video, man :)

Your review is so good, I wish I had this skill in reviewing 😫 you're so eloquent and the way you bring your own connections and reactions into your review makes the review even more impactful. You explain the book so well, and you're very engaging, it's great! I read this book at the beginning of the year, and I loved it so much!!! I connected to it in different ways but I found Alice to be a very real character and I seriously appreciated all of the topics and issues it addressed and included. I listened to the audiobook of this (and have since pre-ordered the paperback, since I loved it so much) so I had no idea about all of the parentheses and such, I'm interested now to reread that and see how it changes my interpretation of Alice and the story! I don't remember the writing seeming quite so cutesy, its so interesting how format can change our perceptions!

Ooooooo Real Queer America really sounds interesting! I actually want to add that high up in my tbr cause it sounds like something I’d really enjoy learning from. I usually read a lot of manga but not many other graphic novels, so I definitely have some delving to do. Congrats on finishing all these books!
